Position: IT Assistant (Helpdesk)

Reporting to:  Head of ITS Department

Responsibilities:

 An Assistant Executive/Helpdesk Assistant at the German University of Technology in Oman is expected to be able to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Responsible for providing assistance to all Admin staff, Academic staff and students who uses computer labs/ PC/ Laptops in GUtech Campus.
  • The support includes timely installation of all software required to fulfil the tasks, license management in cost effective ways.
  • Responding to requests for technical assistance via phone, help desk software, email and in-person; advise user on appropriate action.
  • Installation and maintenance of software in the labs.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of IT functional units and IT helpdesk.
  • Responsible for providing pre/post-implementation support of staff and student laptops (provided by GUtech), networks, hardware, software and systems to varying degrees.
  • Creating and managing images of Lab desktops / laptop computers.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing of computers, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
  • Maintain and update hardware/software with latest patches.
  • Responsible for submitting organized reports, log entries, and other documents as required.
  • Maintaining the records for all the transactions done.
  • Any other similar responsibilities assigned by the Line manager, time to time.

Qualifications:

Diploma in IT or Equivalent

 Experience:

Minimum of 0–2 years of progressive experience IT Related Working Environments

Job-Specific Skills:

  • IT Troubleshooting Skills related to Network, WIFI, Software’s
  • Hardware Skills related to PC and Laptop
  • Communications Skills via email, Phone and in person
  • Fluent in English and Arabic speaking/Writing.
  • Knowledge in IT Basic Networking.
  • Knowledge in Printers and troubleshooting.
  • Basic skills on WINDOWS /LINUX and MAC OS
  • Knowledge in Formatting LAPTOPS, PC and updating.
  • Basic knowledge about Windows Active Directory, Network Printing, File sharing.
  • Basic Knowledge about Microsoft M365 Emails, MS tools.
  • Basic knowledge about WIFI networks, Cisco networks, firewalls.
