Job Description:
The Department of Urban Planning and Architectural Design seeks qualified Academic Interns to support faculty and students in teaching, learning, and departmental operations. This is a hands-on position that combines classroom assistance with direct student engagement and administrative coordination. You will work alongside faculty members and gain practical experience in academic support while contributing meaningfully to the department’s operational success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing lectures, exercises, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork activities.
- Organize and lead tutorials independently with student groups.
- Provide one-on-one consultation to students on course content and academic matters.
- Support exam administration under supervision of Chief Invigilators.
- Correct multiple-choice question assessments.
- Manage attendance records and related administrative documentation.
- Handle general departmental administrative tasks as assigned.
- For Senior Interns with demonstrated subject expertise: provide co-supervision of student thesis work.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Head of Department consistent with your internship contract.
Qualification & Skills:
- Bachelor degree (Junior Intern) or Master degree (Senior Intern) in Urban Planning, Architectural Design, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Proficient written and verbal English communication.
- Ability to handle student consultations with competence and professionalism.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated respect for local culture and commitment to adhering to Omani law and University policies.
- Professional conduct both on and off campus.
