The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) was established in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University in 2007 in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The vision of the German University of Technology in Oman is to become a leading university of technology in the wider region by building on the three pillars of education, research and innovation. Through its affiliation with RWTH Aachen University, the German University of Technology in Oman provides students with the education required to become highly qualified and socially responsible graduates, guided by German excellence and with a firm grounding in Oman’s culture and heritage. GUtech’s programmes of study are accredited by the German agency ACQUIN, and the University has recently undergone a successful evaluation by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. GUtech faculty also engage in local research projects, often in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University and other universities abroad.

The Faculty of Business and Economics at GUtech currently offers B.Sc. programmes in “Logistics” and ”International Business and Service Management” and plans to further expand in this direction. The Faculty is looking to appoint qualified candidates who can contribute to the development of its teaching and research programmes and invites applications for faculty positions at the ranks of:

1. Requirements and Competencies

Candidates for this position should have a background in Business Administration or Industrial Engineering and hold a doctoral degree related to Logistics. Candidates should complement the existing faculty and demonstrate a potential for research and teaching excellence in any of the sub-areas of Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Operations Research, Information Systems, or Computational Logistics. Research potential is typically demonstrated by international publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Experience in securing or executing externally funded projects is an advantage. We expect teaching experience at the undergraduate level, further trainings in higher education didactics and the willingness to continuously improve own teaching skills.

Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with faculty and students in large and small audiences and have the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. At GUtech the language of instruction is English.

2. Tasks and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach in the programmes of the faculty, ideally covering a broad range of topics, and is also expected to contribute to the further development of the faculty’s teaching portfolio. The candidate will carry out original research and publish successfully in high-quality academic journals. Activities to attract externally funded applied projects that correspond to the needs of the region are welcome.

GUtech offers an international and dynamic environment with an extensive research network supported by RWTH Aachen University. The employer will be the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech).

The appointment is initially for two to four years and renewable, dependent on positive performance reviews. The salary is internationally competitive. Offers are subject to receiving Omani teaching and labour permits, which will be arranged by the University.
