The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) was established in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University in 2007 in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The vision of the German University of Technology in Oman is to become a leading university of technology in the wider region by building on the three pillars of education, research and innovation. Through its affiliation with RWTH Aachen University, the German University of Technology in Oman provides students with the education required to become highly qualified and socially responsible graduates, guided by German excellence and with a firm grounding in Oman’s culture and heritage. GUtech’s programmes of study are accredited by the German agency ACQUIN, and the University has recently undergone a successful evaluation by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. GUtech faculty also engage in local research projects, often in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University and other universities abroad.

The Department of Engineering at GUtech currently offers Bachelor of Engineering programmes in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. The Department of Engineering is looking to appoint qualified candidates who can contribute to the development of its teaching and research programmes and invites applications for faculty positions at the ranks of Lecturer/Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering.

 

Requirements and Competencies

Candidates for these positions should hold a PhD degree or equivalent and should have strong research potential or a record of scholarship as demonstrated by international publications, presentations at peer reviewed conferences, or externally funded projects. We also expect teaching experience at the undergraduate level and the willingness to continuously improve own teaching skills. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of three years experiences with teaching and thesis supervision.

The potential employee will contribute towards the coordination of the University’s Process Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Programmes, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and add to the University’s research in engineering.

Applicants should have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment. The language of instruction at GUtech is English.
