Project Description:

The research project evaluates Oman’s transition to a green economy by 2050, focusing on the economic impacts of this shift and identifying effective climate policy instruments. Using macroeconomic models like the IMF’s DIGNAR framework and a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model, the research explores the interplay between climate policies and sustainable development, offering insights into designing measures that balance environmental sustainability with economic progress. Findings will highlight the effectiveness of current policies and subsidies, guiding policymakers in enhancing strategies for a resilient, low-carbon economy.

RA duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant (Technician Post Doc) will play a pivotal role in supporting the analytical and modelling aspects of the research project. His/her responsibilities will include: 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Data Analysis: Conducting thorough analysis of collected data using statistical methods and software. 
  • Model Construction: Assisting in the construction of a DSGE model based on the project’s objectives. 
  • Simulations: Conducting simulations based on the constructed model and interpreting the results. 

Qualification & Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in applied economics or any related field and possess.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Reliability in completing assigned tasks by the line manager.
