Project title:

Innovative Synthesis of Green Noble Metal Nanoparticles for Heavy Metal Sensing and Organic Pollutant Reduction.

Job description

Project Description  This study aims to develop environmentally friendly gold nanoparticles using natural resin through green technology, characterized by UV-VIS, FTIR, XRD, DLS, SEM, SEM-EDAX, and TEM. These eco-friendly gold nanoparticles enable the detection of trace heavy metal ions (Cu2+, Pb2+, Zn2+, and Hg2+) in water, biological samples, and the catalytic degradation of organic pollutants. The sustainable and cost-effective approach minimizes chemical waste production and employs abundant natural resin for enhanced catalytic oxidation in wastewater treatment.

This technology is portable, affordable, and environmentally friendly, offering high selectivity, sensitivity, and biocompatibility for wastewater treatment, biomedicine, and clinical diagnostics applications. Furthermore, the study investigates the potential of biosynthesized gold nanomaterials for improved wastewater treatment efficiency. It examines the challenges and opportunities in Oman’s water treatment and biomedical fields.

RA duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing literature on eco-friendly nanoparticle, preparation, stability, and nanotechnology application in heavy metal detection and pollutant degradation
  • Help final-year students with their experiments and guide them in collecting data
  • Investigate the application of synthesized gold nanoparticles in the colorimetric detection of heavy metal ions
  • Evaluate the catalytic activity of synthesized gold nanoparticles in reducing organic pollutants in wastewater samples
  • Analyze and interpret data obtained from the characterization and application studies,
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, present research findings at national and international conferences
