We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to join our esteemed institution as Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Process Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to our academic community by delivering high-quality instruction, engaging in research activities, and providing academic advising to students. Courses to be taught cover all aspects of process engineering.
Learning and Teaching:
- High levels of student achievement and satisfaction in under- graduate courses as well as in thesis co-supervision;
- Delivery of well-designed short courses and/or courses;
- Well delivered lectures, tutorials, laboratories and/or other forms of interactions with students, which demonstrate cultural awareness and corresponding pedagogy;
- Evidence of implementing student-centered approaches to learning;
- Evidence of implementing reflective practices in own teaching;
- Contributions to the scholarship of learning, at national level (reflective work on teaching and learning that results in improvement to practice – communication of good practice to a wider audience)
Research and Consultancy:
- Contributing to the development of research and/or consultancy proposals that are aligned with the University’s mission and strategy;
- Building research capacity by training and co-supervising young researchers;
- Participation in multidisciplinary research;
- Participation in collaborative work with other universities, in Oman and abroad;
- Timely delivery of quality outcomes and achieving recognition at national and international level;
Leadership, community services and administration:
- Contributions towards the achievement of strategic goals of the University, with a focus on excellence in Learning & Teaching, Research & Consultancy and interaction with stakeholders;
- Evidence of promoting the values of the University, especially multicultural awareness and ethical practices;
- Contributions to knowledge transfer with the wider community;
- Contributions to the promotion of a culture of excellence, by implementing effective and robust quality assurance processes;
- Course coordination.
Specific requirements / Qualification:
- PhD in Process or Chemical or Petroleum Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline.
- Undergraduate qualification in Process or Chemical or Petroleum Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline.
- Ability and interest to teach in the areas of Chemical Reaction Engineering, Fluid Dynamics and Petroleum and Petrochemical Processes.
- Proven research track record in Scopus-indexed journals and/or book series and substantiated capability for independent research and supervising students and junior research staff.
- Excellent command of English.
- 3 years of Post-PhD experience is a minimum requirement for the role of Assistant Professor.
- Teaching experience in English-speaking higher education institutes is a plus.
