JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Requirements and Competencies

Applicants must have a minimum of BSc. degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Process Engineering fields. Having a higher degree and an experience in supervising thesis projects are an advantage. They should have demonstrated excellence in conducting and supervising lab courses. Candidates are expected to have a good knowledge of laboratory procedure and its safety, understand the MSDSs of the chemicals, and able to write and communicate the lab reports. The applicants must demonstrate their flexibility to work in different engineering labs e.g., Mechatronics Lab, Process Engineering Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab, and Mechanical workshop.

Applicants should have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-cultural team environment. The language of instruction at GUtech is English.

2. Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of selected candidate include assistance in conducting lab modules of courses, teaching lab courses, maintaining lab equipment, contributing to the development of lab courses in close collaboration with the professors at Engineering Department, and co-supervising thesis research projects. Candidates should be able to improve their teaching skills to adapt to local needs.

The potential employee will contribute towards the coordination of the University’s Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering labs, demonstrate excellence in teaching labs and supervising lab course, and add to the University’s research in engineering.

The salary is internationally competitive. Offers are subject to receiving Omani teaching and labour permits, which will be arranged by the University. The successful candidates are expected to take up employment before 15^th of February 2020.
